Daniel has been nominated for the SMPS Community Service Award. These awards serve to recognize outstanding members of the Austin architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) community. The finalists were nominated by their peers and winners will be selected by a committee of SMPS board members and past award winners. The winners will be announced at the Black + White Bash on January 25, 2018 at The Eleanor.
The Community Service Award recognizes an individual of the Austin A/E/C industry who continually demonstrates and promotes volunteerism within the community.
Daniel Woodroffe is the Design Director, President and Founder of dwg. In a little more than seven years, the studio has grown to a staff of 20 experts in landscape architecture, urban design, master planning and sustainable infrastructure. dwg. attributes this success to innovation and design excellence which has forged a solid reputation for thinking out of the box, working collaboratively and building long lasting relationships. These skillsets are compounded by the firm’s passion for community involvement and leadership – traits that Daniel exemplifies daily.
Daniel is the past President of the Austin Parks Foundation, and served as the co-chair for the recently completed Republic Square Capital Campaign. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Austin Alliance, where he oversaw the Congress Avenue Vision Committee. He was the vice chair of the City of Austin Waterfront Planning Advisory Board, which promotes protection of Austin’s waterfront. Daniel was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for AIA Austin as an at-large member to raise awareness of the value of architecture and broaden the influence of architects and urban designers. He is also serving on the search committee for the new professor of Landscape Architecture at UTSOA and is one of a founding board member for the newly formed DAA Downtown Parks Board.
Daniel contributes unselfishly of his time, his abilities and his expertise to public service and community leadership in Austin. He inspires his staff to do the same and in 2017 alone, the staff at dwg. volunteered an over 1,500 hours to support over 20 different organizations, leaving a broad impact on the community we call home.
