daniel wins SMPS community service award

Daniel being presented with the Community Service Award from SMPS President and dwg.-er Beth Sims

During the third annual SMPS Austin Black + White Bash on January 25, Daniel was awarded with the Community Service award for his efforts in 2017. The Community Service Award recognizes an individual of the Austin A/E/C industry who continually demonstrates and promotes volunteerism within the community.

dwg. attributes our success to innovation and design excellence, which has forged a solid reputation for thinking out of the box, working collaboratively, and building long-lasting relationships. These skillsets are compounded by the firm’s passion for community involvement and leadership – traits that Daniel exemplifies daily.

Daniel was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Austin chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as an at-large member to raise awareness of the value of architecture and broaden the influence of architects and urban designers. He is also serving on the search committee for the new professor of Landscape Architecture at UTSOA and is one of the founding board members for the newly-formed Downtown Austin Alliance Parks board. Daniel has served as the President of the Austin Parks Foundation and was co-chair for the successful Republic Square Park Capitol Campaign.

Daniel also encourages his staff to give back and has developed an environment of community service in the studio. In 2017 alone, the staff at dwg. volunteered over 1500 hours of time to 20 organizations.

Congrats to Daniel and all of the winners!
