dwg. is delighted to be exhibiting our work Night Garden at this year’s Creekshow, alongside five other installations.
Creek Show 2017 will be held each night from sundown to 10pm, November 10 – 18.
Presented by the Waller Creek Conservancy, Creek Show, now in its fourth year, spans nine nights and includes six light-based, site-specific art installations on Waller Creek between 5th and 8th Streets. The community is invited to walk along Waller Creek to view the works of art designed to bring attention to the future revitalization and transformation of Waller Creek into a series of urban parks.
Night Garden is an immersive stretch of glowing blooms along the banks of Waller Creek. Building upon the typology of fantastical night gardens, this installation creates a high-spectacle and immersive environment along the 8th street block of Waller Creek. Allured from afar, viewers will become enveloped by a field of blooms as they inhabit the space. Night Garden is comprised of approximately 80,000 fluorescent survey flags, symbolically marking the transformation underway along the Waller Creek Corridor. Dynamically shifting with the wind, the field will captivate the viewer through subtle movement. Our concept uses common materials in uncommon ways.
In addition to the light installations, which are free and open to the public, there will be a number of special events, including kids’ activities, music, and more.
