This weekend’s Waller Creek Conservancy Palm Park Picnic!

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything.” Albert Einstein

Austinite’s love spending time outdoors, and the, for-the-most-part, mild weather seems to be a big factor for those 159 people moving here daily (we all know it isn’t the traffic).

My favorite way to spend time outside? Eating or cooking. Or both. At the same time.

Whether it be at home, at a pop-up-picnic at Palm Park, or at a restaurant, nothing beats dining outside, especially when you live in a society where people spend more and more time indoors and online.

Not only is eating outside pleasant, it’s also good for you! There’s increasing evidence that being in nature does the following:

  • reduce anxiety and stress thus reducing risk or early death
  • restore mental energy
  • increase attention and creativity
  • improve short-term memory and concentration
  • reduce inflammation
  • immune system boost

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and eat!

Need a suggestion? Try a few of my favorites: Perla’s, Red’s Porch, Contigo and Shady Grove, or find your own picnic park here.
