schultz appointed to codeNEXT advisory group

CodeNEXT is an initiative to rewrite the land development code, spearheaded by Imagine Austin.

dwg. Managing Principal Eric Schultz has been appointed to the CodeNEXT Advisory Group by District 6 Council Member Jimmy Flannigan. The Advisory Group is made up of 18 Austin citizens with a variety of expertise related to building in Austin. Eric’s history and experience with complex projects and city permitting provide a valuable perspective to the group. It is a pivotal time for the initiative, which released the first draft of the rewrite on February 1st.

CodeNEXT is the City of Austin initiative to revise the Land Development Code, which determines how land can be used throughout the city including what can be built, where it can be built, and how much can (and cannot) be built. The process is a collaboration between Austin’s residents, business community, and civic institutions to align our land use standards and regulations with what is important to the community. This initiative to revise the Land Development is a priority program out of Imagine Austin, the city’s plan for the future adopted by Council in 2012.

CodeNEXT will undergo a yearlong process of community input and revisions, and the final code is expected to be adopted and mapped by 2018.

Congratulations to Eric on this well-deserved appointment!
