Lauren is passionate about all aspects of the designed world and contributes a new perspective to the design team. In particular, she is interested in the interactions between people and the environment, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors, and paying close attention to context and detail. She believes that designing places should simultaneously elevate humanity and natural systems. Growing up in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley is where Lauren’s love for landscape began. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Environmental Policy & Planning and went on to work for a nonprofit in Costa Rica focusing on community development.
Following her short stint in Costa Rica, she moved to Austin and earned her master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Texas. After working in other landscape firms in Austin, she gained valuable experience and insight. Lauren enjoys exploring design ideas and challenges through an iterative process. She is excited to be a part of DWG’s collaborative team. In her spare time you can find her outside running around Town Lake, kayaking, or listening to live music. She also volunteers at Austin Pets Alive and the Capital Area Food Bank. She loves to bake, watercolor, and travel to new places.
